PERSPECTIVE IS EVERY WHERE: WHICH CAME FIRST THE CHICKEN OR THE EGG? THE ANSWER MIGHT SURPRISE YOU!12/11/2022 Which came first the Chicken or the Egg?
We are always trying to figure out which one came first, the chicken or the egg. The principle of “cause and effect” comes to mind. The effect of one being present causes a certain outcome which is the other; or "cause" of this, the effect is that. As a client of mine put it, “Scientist don’t know nothing, the chicken came first. Simple, you need a chicken to lay an egg.” Without a deeper thought, and to gage the question on the surface of the statement, I get his point. In all fairness the question does not have stipulations. Nor does it have restrictions as most brain teasers. The statement itself doesn't warrant any further thought or implies any other scenarios can or can't be in play. It simply states there is a chicken and an egg, which came first? Thinking about this makes me think about how we handle life situations and base it on the pretense of cause and effect (end result). You ever notice that an actual debate over which came first is never really about the chicken or the egg? It’s about the perspective on cause and effect (eventually affect). It turns into, because you did this, it affected (influenced) me in this way. Ironically it doesn’t start or stop there, it keeps going. Especially in an argument, “Well you did this first!” Well, that’s because you did this! We are back to the conundrum of which came first the chicken or the egg? Which one came first? Pondering this thought kept me up. Till one day, I woke up in the middle of the night and I was thinking about that whole scenario, and I went a little bit deeper. “Which one did come first?” Again there is no other pretense I thought, so technically, my mind can go wherever it needs to go. What if “Once Upon a time there was an egg and inside that egg was a chicken. WAIT WHAT!? I don’t know if I was sleepy or what, but it made sense on a whole new level. The answer would be they were present at the SAME TIME. One produces the other almost instantly. So much so that if there is no egg there will be no chicken and if there is no chicken there would be no egg. Maybe, its not a question but a riddle. Which I prefer. With Riddles you walk away with a different perspective in most cases. You’re left saying “I can see that”, or “OH, its because there was two of them. “I get it, I get it.” Now I was getting somewhere, first it’s not a question it’s a riddle. Second, the purpose of a riddle is to come to an understanding; And thirdly, the understanding is somewhere in the riddle. The objective, thus “answer” is not answering the “question” of which came first, the chicken or the egg? But to recognize the riddle of the statement, and in any scenario both the chicken AND the egg were present. Thus my answer is: Both. There was an egg with a Chicken inside it. Ultimately if not for both, the outcome changes significantly, even down to the question/riddle itself. Ahh, I was able to sleep again.... PERSPECTIVE We may never know or remember the true beginning of some things, but we do know the cause and effect of our OWN actions regardless of what happened before or after. Life is full of actual questions that have simple answers. The “DUH” moments. However, don’t overlook life’s riddles and the opportunities to gain some understanding on what is possible.

Why is it so easy to see the potential in others but hard to BELIEVE in the potential we have in ourselves? Rhetorical of course.
Even while writing this, I want to shut myself down and be my own worst critic. "Not everyone feels like this... Well then, I 'm not talking to those people. Now where was I. People who become their own worse critics to the point of hinderance. There goes that voice again, the critic that says - Uh duh I think if I was hindering myself, I would stop it or wouldn't do it? Would you though? Do you recognize the different forms of hindrance? It's bigger than you think. Hinderance is happening when you hear things like, we will have kids when we have enough money; or I know but first I have to make sure it's perfect. These are hindering statements. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR KIDS IF YOU DON"T STAT OUT NO LESS THAN $250,000. Period, end of discussion. Tell your friends, tell your neighbors. It's now or wait for $250,000. But back to unleashing your power and potential. Remember what got you where you are today, won't get you where we want to be. Without growth, maturity and awareness, you will remain in a vicious cycle emotionally. Life will continue to change around you. If you don't grow and mature with these changes, life will roll over you, spit you out and then ask you to catch up. Unleashing your power and potential can be uncomfortable. But you will learn from yourself, push yourself and challenge yourself, it's like losing fat and gaining muscle. Who doesn't want to lose fat? If you think and tell yourself you can do something, then you can. Of course, not all end results are up to us but most important with telling yourself you can is that you will give it a shot or a try. Nothing can happen without first giving it shot. If you think you can't then you're probably right as well and you won't try or you won't succeed. It works either way so think POSITIVE. Here is your homework: Find Five words that best describe you, here is my list below: 1. Unique 2. Fair 3. Kind 4. Smart 5. Creative Sure, some will look at my list and say it's not dynamic enough, my words are plain or boring they don't "Stand Out". My list is not to impress anyone but me. It's to build character and be honest. If I use some big fancy word I hardly use, it becomes something I have to live up to versus something I am.. I'm Unleashing MY POWER, so my response to that would be SO WHAT! Carry on people - Haters gonna hate... |
